Does value-based content on social media really work?

Will sharing value-based content on social media really get you more leads?

This is something I’ve gone back and forth within my business and *disclaimer* what works in my business might not necessarily work in yours. But here’s my two cents.

Value content on social media definitely has its place in your marketing. It’s great for building brand awareness and for growing your audience. But if you’re primarily offering value content you have to ask yourself who you’re really attracting.

Value content and essentially teaching someone how to do it themselves leads to - you guessed it - them doing it for themselves.

The argument stands that these people will think to themselves “If this is what she’s giving away for free, imagine the value I get from working with her?”

OR that it shows your authority in your field.

Which is fair and could happen in some cases. But this is where sharing a variety of content, not just value-based, helps to still attract your ideal clients.

There’s two other pillars you want to include in your content strategy:

  1. Your messaging. How do you help the people you want to attract? What’s the BIG benefit you’re solving for them?

  2. Your personality. The more people see who you are and how you’re different from anyone who does the same thing as you, the easier their decision to work with you. Especially in recent years, people are craving connection and community. They want to surround themselves and work with people they can relate to.

So before you start sharing endless tips… consider who you want to attract. More Instagram followers and growing your audience can be cool, but they won’t all turn into clients.
